Bodyguard Dogg Khan Explains Absence On The Day Of AKA’s Murder. It’s been a year since the heartbreaking loss of the legendary rapper AKA, who tragically lost his life in a shooting outside Wish Restaurant in Durban, alongside his friend Tibz.
For more than 8 years, AKA has enjoyed the protection of Dogg Khan‘s unit without facing any threats to his life. However, on February 10, 2023, in the absence of Dogg, that changed tragically as the rapper lost his life.
Speaking during an interview on Load Shedd Podcast, Dogg Khan said that he was not able to be with AKA on the night of the murder because he was already booked 3 months in advance by Dreamville’s J Cole.
“I had international celebrities, so I work with Dreamville a lot, all the Dreamville artists, so I was working with Bas. So what happens is, this is what really messes up the schedules, an international artist is booked 3 or 4 months in advance. So he ties me down 3 or 4 months in advance,” he said.
“The local artist, today is Thursday he can get a call to perform on Saturday. So you understand, so when you looking for me, Hey Dogg, I’m in Durban on Saturday you’re telling me this on Thursday and yet I’ve been booked 3 months in advance.
“The thing with international celebrities is that they contract me, they dont contract the company, although it’s my company, but me, they dont want no one so I had to be on that job. So on that particular time. The guys that booked AKA, I think I got a call on Tuesday or Wednesday, ‘Hey Dogg are you going to be in Durban this weekend, AKA got a gig,’ I say hey no I will be in Joburg,” he added.
